McCain 'sings' - "Don't know much..."

Tue Aug 26, 2008 at 04:16:24 PM PDT

As I'm waiting for the speeches to begin tonite, and listening with one ear to the MSNBC pundits, I thought I'd re-word Sam Cooke's Wonderful World (Don't know much) lyrics - as sung by John McSame.

I'm sure you could do a much better job.

And yes, today (as with many days) I have too much time on my hands.  :o)

On to the silliness --->

UPDATE:  Even sillier is that I forgot Obama already did this.  No wonder I had this tune running in my head over and over.  D'OH!

I'll keep this up anyway 'cause I spent so much time looking for links that went with the cross-out words (sorta).  And also, I like seeing McCain's head attached to Bush's body.  ;o)

McCain KNEW the Questions beforehand...

Mon Aug 18, 2008 at 09:45:38 AM PDT

This won't be a long analytical diary, just another heads-up, and yet another diary to discuss Rick Warren's Saddleback Civil/Faith Forum this past Saturday.

H/T to DU'er ThomWV for listening to C-Span this morning and reminding me what I had forgotten.

Transcripts Page for the Saddleback Civil Forum on the Presidency.  Transcripts are in .doc and .txt format (very poorly done I might add).

Below the jump is the pertinent part the occurs in Document/Text Part 5 - Page 4:

Rick Warren "Making Up Your Mind: Questions to Consider..."

Sun Aug 17, 2008 at 11:03:27 AM PDT

I don't always post a diary, so I'll waste mine by giving a heads-up to those that may be interested in listening to Rick Warren's sermon today.  There is no Open Thread for me to post this in.

Over at the Christian Post in the last paragraph is this:

On Sunday, Warren was scheduled to deliver a special sermon, entitled "Making Up You Mind: Questions to Consider before the Election", which will be streamed live on the church Web site – www.saddleback.com. The sermon will be delivered twice – first during Saddleback’s 9 a.m. PT service and then again during the church’s 11:15 a.m. PT service.

I believe the link would be on the left that says "See our Service".  Scheduled to start in about 15 minutes.

WSJ: McCain's Energy Plan = "...all over the map."

Tue Aug 05, 2008 at 04:18:54 PM PDT

All morning long I've been researching lots of sites regarding McSame's Energy Policy, called the Lexington Project in an effort to intelligently answer an email from my brother-in-law who says that Obama's plan (frankly, I don't think he even read it) is "fluff", "political speak", and is not as detailed or realistic as McSame's.  My B-I-L doesn't give specifics on why he labels Obama's plan in the way he does.  He just throws that BS out there in an attempt to sound "cool."

Anyway, in going from one site to another, I stumbled upon a piece, critical of McCain's Energy Policies, and written by Laura Meckler of the Wall Street Journal:  Senator's Broad Range Of Energy Policies Defies Categories.  [Couldn't find it diaried]

I've quoted paragraphs 2 thru 5, but the entire piece is worth a read.

BUSH Flip-flops on IRAN Nuke talks

Tue Jul 15, 2008 at 07:04:26 PM PDT

Heard it on The Verdict as breaking with Dan Abrams, so this will just be a short heads-up:

Come get me AP.
Official: US envoy to meet Iranian nuke negotiator:

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Associated Press has learned that a top U.S. diplomat will join colleagues from other world powers at a weekend meeting with Iran's chief nuclear negotiator in a break with past Bush administration policy.

A senior U.S. official tells the AP that William Burns, America's third-highest ranking diplomat, will for first time attend talks with the Iranian envoy in Switzerland aimed at persuading Iran to halt activities that could lead to the development of atomic weapons.

There's one more ending paragraph at the link.

Let's HELP HIM put it Over the Top tomorrow

Mon Jun 02, 2008 at 08:24:29 PM PDT

To keep it simple, I'm only going to list the  Senators that are currently uncommitted according to DemConWatch.

Ken Salazar (CO)
Joe Biden (DE)
Tom Carper (DE)
Tom Harkin (IA)
Mary Landrieu (LA)
Ben Cardin (MD)
Carl Levin (MI) (Half-vote)
Max Baucus (MT)  They're voting tomorrow, so I suppose we'll give them a break.
Jon Tester (MT)  Ditto above.
Harry Reid (NV)  He'll wait until the last second.
Frank Lautenberg (NJ)
Sherrod Brown (OH)
Ron Wyden (OR)  I've read he'll make his choice by June 13th? - chicken
Jack Reed (RI)
Jim Webb (VA)
Herb Kohl (WI)  Says he'll announce within days.

My emphasis indicates those Senators involved in trying to convince their remaining colleagues to get off the fence.

Kossack constituents of those Senators indicated above might want to consider calling or emailing them to give them a little push.

Pelosi won't allow convention fight

Wed May 28, 2008 at 09:52:27 PM PDT

This is a heads-up diary more than anything else, and doesn't have any real analysis, except to say,

You Go GIRL!!

Pelosi won't allow convention fight

(05-28) 20:17 PDT San Francisco -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she will step in if necessary to make sure the presidential nomination fight between Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama does not reach the Democratic national convention - though she believes it could be resolved as early as next week.

NY Gov Paterson: 'Desperation' by Clinton [UPDATE x 3]

Thu May 22, 2008 at 05:26:39 PM PDT

This is what I learn when peeking in over at MyDD and Jerome's update in his post.

Paterson Sees 'Desperation' By Clinton, Disagrees On Florida And Michigan

heh.

It's not a long piece.  Do read the whole thing.  These answers by Governor Paterson are in response to a question by a radio caller.  I've already quoted a bit more than I should, so if you want to know what the question was, you'll find it at the end of the NY Daily News piece.

OBAMA'S Portland, OR Waterfront Park Rally - 15 Pics

Sun May 18, 2008 at 09:26:12 PM PDT

Well, it took me awhile to look through everyone elses pics, and all I can say is I am SO completely blown away.  When my husband, son, and I were there, we knew there were A LOT of people (we guessed 30,000 - LOL) but we had no idea there were as many as close to 75,0000!!.

It's true what they say that you can't see the forest for the trees, especially at my height of 5' 2".

We arrived at about 10:45am, parked in a covered lot (we were lucky) and started looking for the end of the line.  I think we walked between 6-8 blocks before we finally arrived at our waiting place (see last image to get a lay of the land).

Here's my pics (old camera), 15 in all, with one map -->

Part II - BREAKING: Obama's passport data compromised 3 times

Thu Mar 20, 2008 at 06:28:01 PM PDT

Just copying Scoopter's diary: in order to start a new one:

Just heard this on the intro to Countdown..   The Dept. of Justice has launched an investigation into the compromising of Sen. Obama's passport data file by two contract employees at the State Department.  A third has been disciplined for accessing the information without necessity.

When more information comes in MSNBC will be breaking away from Keith for the news conference.

I will keep this diary updated with relevant information as it becomes available.  Still no link available at MSNBC or the NY Times websites, and nothing found on Google News yet either.

ACTION: EARTH HOUR 2008 - DKos Community Participation Requested

Sat Mar 08, 2008 at 11:17:33 AM PDT

This won't be a long diary.  It's more of a heads-up and a simple Call to Action that's EASY for everyone to do.

I just saw a commercial on the National Geographic channel that advertised a March 29, 2008 event at 8:00PM (your local time) that I wanted to share, and hope you'll sign-up to participate.

LIGHTS OUT FOR ONE HOUR! organized by EARTH HOUR 2008

Edwards responds to Obama's Reagan comment

Thu Jan 17, 2008 at 11:16:47 AM PDT

This is a bit long for an Open Thread, so I thought I'd post it as a diary.

I like Edwards' response:

"When you think about what Ronald Reagan did to the American people, to the middle class to the working people," said Edwards.

Another Lobbyist in the Obama house, and it's not Demers

Mon Jan 07, 2008 at 08:54:39 PM PDT

I support John Edwards.

Now that that is out of the way, please understand this is NOT a hit diary, though at least 40% of you will probably disagree.  More than anything, I would really like a civil discussion, and an explanation, of Obama's actions, then and now.

To that end I thought I would throw myself under the bus (others might be afraid to) because I would really like to wholeheartedly support Obama (if push comes to shove), but when I read things like this, well, it just make my shoulders slump.

S.C. Obama Backer [Jim Hodges] is Also a Lobbyist

Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama has made a big deal about the fact that his campaign doesn't accept political donations from Washington lobbyists. But the ban apparently doesn't extend to seeking their endorsements.

Your IOWA Predictions - Graph List

Thu Jan 03, 2008 at 05:03:05 PM PDT

I thought it would be fun (while I waited for the caucusing to start) to have all the predictions in one place to refer to, so I created a list graph of all those I gathered through 633 comments, in the Iowa Predications Thread.  I didn't update after that, which included about 11 or so more comments.

ALL your NAMES are HERE.

The list graph includes only Clinton, Edwards and Obama.

CA Pol Junkie did a pretty good general recap, with statistics about 4 1/2 hours ago.  Check it out HERE, and don't forget the mojo.

Without further ado, and naming names, here's the list of 143+ brave souls.

ANOTHER New AFSCME Mailer

Wed Dec 26, 2007 at 03:27:06 PM PDT

So, they're at it again.

FirstRead

Like the previous mailer, this one cites a quote from Edwards (whose team has disavowed the attack). The eye-catching new addition? A take-a-number machine spitting out a card printed with the number 15,000,000.

"There are 15 million reasons why Barack Obama's health care plan is not up to the job," reads the text.

Open Letter to Iowa & New Hampshire - Why we support John Edwards 4 President

Sat Dec 22, 2007 at 04:47:38 PM PDT

This diary is intended to be an Open Letter to Iowa caucus-goers and New Hampshire voters.

My intent is for this to be a one-stop diary that kossacks can use to share, link to, or even print out. Since it's the weekend right before Holiday kick-off, I don't expect to get a of participation.  However, do bookmark and share it with others so that they can contribute at a more convenient time.

If you support John Edwards for President, and assuming you'd like to participate, briefly explain the reason you are supporting him in your comment below.  I'm hoping you'll keep it positive, with minimal comparisons to other candidates.

Finally, I am respectfully requesting that this diary NOT become a sparring ground.  I realize I cannot control this, but if you happen to take issue with another person's comment (for whatever reason) please save it for someone else's diary where appropriate.  There are plenty of attack diaries to choose from.  If you don't happen to see one right now, please be patient - they should be along shortly.  Deal?  Deal.

I'll start it off -->

FRIDAY FUN: The Candidate Calculator, plus a Poll

Fri Nov 16, 2007 at 09:45:19 AM PDT

Over here in Portland, Oregon, we libruls listen to 620AM KPOJ.

I just now got an email inviting me to participate in a "poll" (for lack of a better word) that allows me to rate ALL the candidates (including Republicans) based on the views we agree/disagree on.

Here is the lead-in:

This is a really simple way to find out which 2008 presidential candidates share your views. Enter your choices below and hit the submit button to rank the candidates.

Here's how it works...If you agree on an issue with a candidate, he/she gets a point. If you disagree, we take a point away. Choosing the "Unknown/other" option results in no points. The number of points given or taken depends on the weight you set. Rate how important each issue is to you on a scale from 1 to 5 (1 being less important, 5 being most important). You will find a list directly below each candidate containing the issues which you disagree with (as long as he/she scores greater than zero).

Poll

Which Presidential Candidate did you score highest with (and no cheating)

EDWARDS - DEADLINE for Federal Matching Funds

Wed Oct 31, 2007 at 11:43:10 AM PDT

Today is the FINAL DAY for Federal Matching Funds.

This won't be a detailed analysis (I'm not one of our many talented diarists) of why you should open your wallets, change purses, or rummage through your sofa cracks for whatever you can afford to give to the Edwards campaign.  Those of you that support him know all the reasons.

Those of you supporting one of other candidates feel free to click the BACK button above.
